The Power BI Pro tier at $14 per user per month is genuinely affordable for standard business reporting, and the platform has the largest ecosystem of certified content, pre-built connectors, and community resources of any BI tool.
The ceiling is architectural. Power BI uses standard rendering that degrades at high data volumes and high update rates. It has no 3D charts, no technical analysis charts, no spectrogram or polar chart types. Real-time streaming requires significant configuration and has meaningful limitations. In its specific domain, Grafana is excellent. Outside infrastructure monitoring, Grafana's limitations are significant. Business intelligence and analytical chart types are limited.
